The Studio Behind Our Little Book

A Small Studio, Built at Our Own Table

Our Little Book started at our own kitchen table. We're a mom and a dad, and the very first book we made was a gift for our own family: a personalized, illustrated storybook starring the real people and pets we love, painted in warm watercolor and ink. It's the same studio we hand to you, a place to build a book of your own.

How It Started

One Book, Made by Hand

We wanted a book about our own family: the small, ordinary moments we never want to forget. Nothing on a shelf came close, so we made one ourselves. We loved holding it so much that the idea wouldn't let us go. Other families should be able to build one too.

So we kept building, in the evenings and the in-between hours, until the thing we made for ourselves became a studio we could hand to you. Every part of it is shaped by what we wanted for our own kids, and by the idea that you should be the one making it yours.

Built in Our Kitchen

The Tools We Made: Quill, Ink, and Paper

Every page is written and painted by two small engines we made ourselves, on a workbench we built around you. Quill writes and illustrates each page from the characters and moments you describe. Ink listens when you want a page to look different, and redraws just that one. And Paper is our own editor, the calm surface where you read the finished book and reach for Ink when a page needs a second take.

We didn't set out to build any of this. We just wanted a book about our own family, and nothing on a shelf came close. The closest off-the-shelf tools couldn't hold a face steady across thirty pages, or sit with a request like “her eyes look wrong.” So we built ours, the kind of studio we wanted to work in.

For now the engines both paint in soft watercolor, because that's the right voice for these books. The tools themselves are quietly flexible. Other styles, and other ways to share them, are on the way.

Honest Pricing

What a Book Costs

Here's exactly how a book gets made. Quill writes and paints every page, the engine we built ourselves and the real craft at the center of this studio. We chose to build our own rather than lean on anything off the shelf, because nothing else could hold a face steady across thirty pages or paint a single family with this much care. Each page is customized end to end for one family, then reviewed page by page before anything ships.

We price it to match: enough to keep sharpening the engine, paint these well, and grow the studio with intent. That's the whole of it, and we're glad to show our work.

If you'd love to see a different shape (a smaller first book, a family rate, a gift bundle), we'd love to hear it. We're a small family studio, we read every note, and we'd rather hear from you than guess at what would work.
